Outriders has still not reported money at the People Can Fly studio

As an extension of a first press release published last August, the Polish studio People Can Fly revealed in its annual financial report not to have received profits on the game published by Square Enix even at the end of 2021.

THIS IS BAD! - OUTRIDERS HAS MADE NO MONEY!? - PCF DON'T KNOW HOW MANY GAMES HAVE ITS SOLD - WTF?

The absence of royalties from Square Enix implies that Outriders has not achieved certain commercial objectives, even if Square Enix considered the game as "_en passes to become a major license" in spring 2021. Released in the Game Pass subscription, the Action-RPG of science fiction had seen 3.5 million people spend a month after its release, but the number of copies sold has never been revealed.

"People Can Fly received no fee from the publisher for the period until December 31, 2021, which means that at that closing date, the net product for the sale of outriders was insufficient to recover the Costs and expenses incurred by the publisher to develop, distribute and promote the title. This was confirmed by the record of fees for the fourth quarter 2021 that People Can Fly received from the editor ", can be read.

Even if a generous paid extension is expected on June 30, People Can Fly warns that there is no guarantee that Outriders becomes profitable one day. "Rien does not guarantee that the net product of the sale of outriders during future periods will be sufficient to allow the publisher to recover the costs incurred and to pay fees to People Can Fly", explains the report.

Project Gemini and Project Dagger: two AAA games for 2024

People Can Fly, which does not hold any rights on the Outriders franchise, adds that it has the right to refuse to achieve new content and extensions, in which case Square Enix can choose another developer to replace it. This clarification intended for shareholders does not mean that the relations between the studio and the publisher have been dedicated, especially since the Polish studio is still working on a new AAA for Square Enix whose code name is * Project Gemini . We also learn that the latter will be of a volume comparable to Outriders * and that it aims for an outing in 2024.

Square Enix has created surprise this week by announcing to separate from all the properties obtained in 2009 with the purchase of Eidos Interactive, for the benefit of the Group Group. This $ 300 million sale includes Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal studios and around fifty games and licenses including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief or Legacy of Kain. Square Enix has long kept hands on its games and licenses developed by external studios, such as Just Cause, Life is Strange or Outriders.

In addition to Project Gemini with Square Enix, the studio works with Take-Two Interactive on Project Dagger , an action-RPG with a substantial budget (between 40 and 60 million euros) of which Development has been entrusted to its teams based in the United States. The release of the game also targets the year 2024.

In 2021, for its first year as a listed company on the stock market, People Can Fly achieved a turnover of 38.3 million euros, up 74% and a net profit of 13 million euros, up 150%. This increase is due in particular to the perceived money of Square Enix and Take-Two for its two AAA in development.
